One of my favorite tips for making your apartment, home [or any room really] cozy is string lights! They mostly come in two colors: warm light and white light. Warm light for me makes the room feel much cozier and vintage than white light, but you can choose whichever one that tickles your fancy more.
Below are 12 great ways that you can incorporate string lights in your decor. I hope you find something that you love!
1. string lights with accessories
Some string lights these days come with accessories such as vines or other floral pieces like leaves. You can find a set that already comes fitted with something that you like or you can choose to accessorize on your own with faux vines, leaves or flowers. It definitely takes the lights up a notch.
2. hanging string lights
Stars are one of my favorite things in the world so you can see why I would love this particular way of using lights. In addition to adding warm cozy decor to your room, hanging your lights like this can give a beautiful stary effect.
3. icicle string lights
This way is similar to the one before except that icicle lights take the design to another level with their hanging style. Hang them high enough and you will probably love this style even more! It’s even better if you like different and unique, as you don’t see icicle lights being used as much as regular string lights.
4. decorate your egg chair
One of the coziest things you could get for your apartment or bedroom is an egg chair and this one is gorgeous! Why not go all in and make it more magical with lights.
5. string lights in a jar
Another fun way to incorporate lights in your decor is to put them in a mason jar and have them glow. Battery operated lights work best for this and are a very cute way to add to your decor.
6. projector wall with string lights
You can hang your lights in this shape on an empty wall and on movie nights it’ll make a great frame for your projected movie. You could even do this over your bed and hang some art pieces and plants in the middle.
7. pallet bed with string lights
If you have a pallet bed you can incorporate lights and make this design even more amazing. This will look great whether you apply it to the base or to the headboard.
8. balcony space with string lights
One of my favorite places to see lights in an apartment is on the balcony. There is just something magical about warm lights outdoors, especially when plants are involved.
9. floor length mirror with string lights
Other than being a really dope spot for your mirror selfies, adding lights to your mirror is another cool way to incorporate this versatile element into your decor.
10. photo wall with string lights
This photo wall which is sometimes done with clothespins and polaroid images is even more perfect with lights. What’s better than beautiful memories and warm magical lights?
11. looped string lights
If you have a room with lots of empty space on the walls and one that could probably use some brightening up, then you should try installing your lights like this. You can certainly do it on as many walls as you want.
12. curtain string lights
I definitely saved the best for last. Doesn’t this picture just warm your heart? I love when a wall is fully decked out in curtain string lights. You can install them with vines or other floral pieces, add photos or put them up over appropriate wall art [similar to this image].
There are many great ways to incorporate lights into your decor. I hope you find some on this list that you like. You can also experiment with your own ideas and see what you like best in your space. Either way, lights add a magical element to your space that you simply just can’t deny.
If you have a rental and are worried about damaging your walls or ceiling, command hooks are great and safe for installing your lights.
